This electro-dance mix was inspired by both world music and funk music from back in the day. Making mixes is what my boyfriend does in his spare time and it’s great for me, since I get to sample them first. By clicking on the down arrow on the right hand side of the player, you can download the mix for yourself.
In case you’re wondering about the name of the recording, the TR-808 was a synthetic drum machine, with a steady marching rhythm, produced in the 1980’s to help musicians create demos.
I got these flats at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last weekend, though they weren’t on sale. They’re the most confortable flats I’ve worn in a while and they’re perfect for travel since they roll up into a tiny bag. I’m mostly sure the envelope clutch isn’t real leather, but it’s very roomy and looks awesome. I have yet to debut it!
I love little luxuries. Brit-style milk and tea in the mornings, wrapping up in a cozy blanket to watch a movie–on my laptop, lighting a candle and taking a nice bubble bath or even having the time to sit in a quaint coffee shop all day. Recently, however, I’ve been very into purchasing sweet smelling body lotions and aromas.
P.S. I think I am done changing the background of my blog for a while–I’ve been looking for something clean and crisp and this is it.
Also, what do you think of my new nail color? It’s the first time I’ve painted my nails in about 7 months, and I’m clearly not good at it!
Vogue has this feature where they show what chic staffers wear over the course of a business week. I came across this posting of Chioma Nnadi last month and was overjoyed by the presence of a Nigerian fashion writer, who loved bold colors, at American Vogue. You should definitely check out the feature on their site–the slide show reminds me of a Bill Cunningham NYT fashion-on-the-street type of presentation with its black backdrop!
This weekend marks the start of the much-anticipated Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This event lasts until July 31st, then all fall items are marked back up to regular retail price.
Here’s what I’m hoping to score this weekend, if the price is right of course!
Are you going to the sale?
I love reality tv…and scripted tv, almost to a fault. I mostly look for style ideas and inspiration from the characters themselves or their costume designers. Here are the style-worthy shows I’m looking forward to:
The Rachel Zoe Project, Bravo
Premieres September 6th
During Season 4, Rachel balances family life with her styling business, while managing new talent.
Mad Fashion, Bravo
Premieres August 2011
Project Runway Alum Chris March returns for his spinoff show as he clothes his famous clients.
Giuliana and Bill, Style Network
Premieres July 18th
While not necessarily a show centered on fashion, E! correspondent Giuliana Rancic does manage to put together some pretty chic outfits.
Project Runway, Lifetime
Season 9 Premieres July 28th
Eh, so the show’s been on for a while and I’ll admit that I haven’t kept up with all the seasons. However, I’ll give the show a chance this time around. Hopefully Lifetime doesn’t disappoint.
Gossip Girl, CWTV
Premieres September 26th
Drama on the Upper East Side is incomplete without its stylish citizens. Elizabeth Hurley joins the cast this season.
Fashion Hunters, Bravo
Premieres August 2011
This show chronicles buyers at consignment store Second Time Around as they find unique items in the city that never sleeps.
Which shows are you most excited about?
