New-ish Santigold

I got her new album about a month ago though it dropped early this year. Here’s the official video for her song Disparate Youth. It’s still got that chilled-out island vibe that I love from her. I could listen to this song all day =)

Spring 2013 (NYFW)

My favorite looks and trends from the city that never sleeps.

Christian Siriano

I love the ease of this dress, and the fact that it can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

Jenni Kayne

I love the simplicity and structure of this dress.

Monique Lhuillier

Peplum tops and skinny pants, my two favorite items. I’m so glad that peplum is hanging around for another season, though, I have yet to purchase any garment in the cut!

I definitely have a soft spot for graphic black and white dresses.  This one by Milly looks so effortless.

I’ve always been a huge fan of this silhouette.

Tracy Reese

Sporty chic is how I would describe this look. If I were to wear it in real life, I’d probably reduce the volume on the lower half by choosing slimmer slouch pants

General Observations

Designers this season, especially those at BCBG Max Azria, really seemed to be into harnesses both over and under the outfit. Also, the color-blocking pastels of last spring were turned into smoothies this year as designers blended the colors for a more subtle effect. Sheer was back again, as were cutouts. There wasn’t as much leather as I would have liked, but oh well!

Current Fall Cravings

It’s so cold during the hours when I go to work and come back home and now that retailers have started posting fall clothes on their sites (finally!) I’ve done a  little window shopping. Hopefully some of these items will make it into my wardrobe this season.

Ahh so I never made it to Fashion’s Night Out! I had 4 flights that day to get my braces off (yay teeth!) but after returning to my apartment, I basically cooked dinner then crashed.

Anyway, I noticed that having to take care of a retainer has made me want to take better care of myself overall. I’m actually following what my derm told me to do and I’m taking better care of my skin.

I went to Whole Foods today in search of a deep conditioning hair mask (my bf complained that my hair looked dry!) and couldn’t find anything I wanted to splurge on. Luckily there was a CVS across the street and I came across this all natural mask by Shea Moisture.

I love it!

So far, my hair seems light and hydrated, but only time will tell.

Hope everyone’s enjoying fashion week! I’ll probably do a post on my favorite Spring 2013 trends (at the end of the week)
