Wedding Wednesday Post #9

I finally understand Bridezillas.

No, I haven’t become one (I don’t think!), but people spend enough time talking about the genuine stress related to getting married. So far, I’ve felt this enormous pressure to plan everything perfectly so that the day runs smoothly and that my guests have a great time. I don’t buy into the idea that it has to be a perfect day, rather, since my name is on the line, I want that day to be amazing. I’ve created a Google Drive folder just for wedding planning and created a Project Plan with specific action items, owners and deadlines. I love to plan, but I think all this planning is overwhelming me.  I always feel like I’m behind schedule but in all honesty, I have a demanding job, am studying for the GMAT and just moved to a new city!

I know that it’s supposed to be a joyous occasion and that I’m supposed to revel in the attention and in the moment, but sometimes, I just want to fast-forward to the next phase in my life. I am truly grateful to be in this position, but I find it healing to voice my true feelings out loud, even if for a few minutes.

I don’t want my wedding to stress me out and it doesn’t have to if I change my perspective.

I am not using a planner (mistake #1), but I do have many people around me to help.

I should also realize that a majority of the heavy lifting is already done. We have a great venue, a ceremony musician and his songs, our ceremony decor and florist, an officiant, a photographer, a caterer and menu, our invites, a baker, our clothes, accessories and rings, our wedding website, registry and my hair and makeup people all picked out. That’s a lot!

I hope that going forward, I can learn to enjoy events that I plan. And more importantly, I hope I will enjoy my own wedding!

Summer Beauty

So, I’m thinking about highlighting my hair this summer, just in time for my end-of-summer wedding.  I’ve never gotten highlights before and my only experiences with color have been rubbing lemons on my hair (hmm) and using a home dye to get jet-black hair. (I ended up with dry, unruly hair.) This should be interesting. I’ve decided that I want a subtle look, similar to Zoe Saldana’s. If you follow me on Pinterest, you’ll know I’m obsessed with her event hairstyles. These pictures are some examples that I’ll take to my stylist sometime in the next few weeks.

Hopefully all goes well and I don’t end up looking like this:
