Repeat After Me

Though I work in management consulting, I’ve always had a great interest in fashion. The unfortunate news is that I don’t always have friends around me to talk about our favorite designers and current industry events. One day I was chatting with a friend via Skype and wanted to talk about the Rodarte girls. Sadly, I stumbled, “Is it Ro-dart-ay or Road-art”? Aghh!

Last year I posted a handy pronunciation guide to help people like me pronounce the names that we don’t say out loud on a regular basis. I found that guide again and wanted to share it with my readers. Hopefully you’ll have better luck than I did!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (Wishlist)

Ladies and Gentlemen, Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale has arrived! I was so excited to receive my email that new fall merchandise would be sold at discounted prices between July 19th and August 4th! The sad new is, I have always miss this sale. Every year, I mark my calendar and for some reason or another, just can’t commit to buying anything during the two week timeframe.

I always say that I’ll just stalk my favorite items and buy them at lower prices at the end of the season. However, this risky strategy has caused me to miss out on some really good deals. Also, since I tend to wear less popular sizes, I usually don’t find things in my size after a few months. I’m not going to make this mistake again! And since Christmas is only 5 months away, why not find gifts now?

These are my favorite items from the sale:

Museum Tour

One of my favorite spring/ summer activities is visiting museums. I’ve always had an interest in art, design and creating something beautiful from unassuming ingredients. Recently, I went to a few Smithsonian exhibits (first time!) and these are some of the highlights from my day out.

I’m really drawn to geometric patterns, interesting textures and optical illusions. Thankfully these museums are free and allow photography!

Seen any good exhibits lately?
